If you watched this years Toy Show, you probably fell in love with 11 year old Paudie.
The Limerick native and all round legend helped Ryan recreate the iconic Harry Styles Treat People with Kindness music video.
Well, the kid’s definitely destined for a career in showbiz – he’s made sure to strike while the iron’s hot and interviewed both the Taoiseach and Tánaiste at Government Buildings this week.
Paudie, who is well used to the world of broadcasting with his successful Paudcast series, recorded a very special episode to help celebrate Down Syndrome Ireland mark its 50th Anniversary. In wide ranging interviews which took place with An Taoiseach and the Tánaiste in their respective private offices at Government Buildings, Paudie asked both leaders about the issues facing people with Down syndrome, the 21 Demands that have been asked of Government and how society’s attitudes are changing towards people with Down syndrome. Of course, he still found time to ask the questions everyone needs to know, such as “what’s Leo Varadkar’s favourite food?” and “does Mícháel Martin find being Taoiseach tougher than being a teacher?”
Speaking about the experience, Paudie said,
It was fantastic meeting An Taoiseach and An Tánaiste! I visited Government Buildings and we sat and chatted in their offices. They both gave me lots of time and I felt very important. I got to see things that most people never get to see and I asked them what they thought it was like to be me, someone with Down syndrome.
Paudie started the podcast this year as his father Brian felt it would assist in his confidence, and could ultimately improve his communication skills while the schools were shut during lockdown. You can find out more and listen to episodes HERE.
